Matilda
I love this book so much. Thanks for my lovely daughter to introduce Matilda to me.
This is a story about a five year-old girl, Matilda. Her parents showed no interest at all to her and they failed to notice the extra-ordinary about Matilda.
One day afternoon, Matilda was left alone in the house, while her brother and parents went to school or work. She walked to a public library and started her magic journey. She met Mrs Phelps, the librarian there. Mrs Phelps introduced books for Matilda.
Mr. Roald Dahl had a characteristic style of describing something, for example, he described Matilda's mother to be "a large woman with hair dyed platinum blonde except where you could see the mousy-brown bits growing out from the roots. She wore heavy make-up and she had one of those unfortunate bulging figures where the flesh appears to be strapped in all around the body to prevent it from falling out." [Roald Dahl. Matilda]
Matilda was a little late in starting school, because her parents did not care and forgot to make proper arrangements. She was five and a half when she entered school for the first time and headmistress she met her teacher Miss Honey, her Headmistress Trunchball, her classmates Lavender and her miracles.
Eventually, after a long story and with Matilda's cleverness, brave and miracles, she helps someone and herself to find a new home.
My nine-year-old daughter, just like Mrs Phelps the librarian, introduces this book Matilda to me. It is so lovely that we are in reverse in size and age. I have lost the interest from books since nine-year-old and now my daughter brings the miracle back to me 30 years afterwards. Thanks god.
