What is Geometry?

  • Geometry is from the Greek words "Geo" and "metry". "Geo" means earth and "metry" means measurement.
  • Learning points: points, lines, planes, angles, polygons, solid, polyhedra etc.
What is Polygon?
  • A polygon is a plane figure enclosed by three or more lines.
What are Polyhedra?
  • Polyhedra are closed solids which are formed by polygons.
What is Euler's formula?
  • V - E + F = 2
    • no. of vertices (V), no. of edges (E), no. of faces (F)
  • Leonhard Euler (1707 – 1783) was a Swiss mathematician who founded the studies of graph theory and topology and made pioneering and influential discoveries in many other branches of mathematics such as analytic number theory, complex analysis, and infinitesimal calculus [wikipedia].
  • More Euler's formula
