Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
This is a story of interview.
The interviewer was Mr. Willy Wonka and there were five candidates,
Augustus Gloop, a greedy boy;
Veruga Salt, a spoiled girl;
Violet Beauregarde, a girl chewing gum all day long;
Mike Teavee, a boy who did nothing but only watch TV and
Charlie Bucket.
Roald Dahl, the writer, liked using many adjectives and adverbs. e.g.
Mr. Wonka...
And what an extraordinary little man he was.
He had a black top hat on his head.
He wore a tail coate made of a beautiful plum-coloured velvet.
His trousers were bottle green.
His gloves were pearly grey.
And in on hand he carried a fine gold-topped walking cane.
Covering his chin, there was a small, neat, pointed black beard - a goatee. And his eyes - his eyes were most marvellously bright. They seemed to be sparkling and twinkling at you all the time......
The post went to the one who behaved only normally. That is true sometimes in real life.
